Uganda’s opposition leader Bobi Wine, known in real life as Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu who has in recent times gone on several campaign trips across his nation and have suffered chaos of arrests and detentions is determined to become the next President of Uganda if the people give him the mandate on 14th January 2021.
The 38 years old Politician, Singer, Actor cum Businessman declared his vision to unseat Uganda’s long-serving President Yoweri Museveni, who has been in office since 1986 after involving in rebellions that toppled Ugandan leaders Idi Amin and Milton Obote.
Currently serving as Member of Parliament for Kyadondo County East, in Wakiso District, in the Central Region of Uganda, Honorable Robert announced his candidacy for the 2021 Ugandan Presidential Election in June 2019 on the ticket of the National Unity Platform Party.
Nicknamed “Ghetto President”, Bobi Wine has mobilized many young people through his efforts to promote social justice with his music. It is due to his energetic and vigorous intentions of making Uganda a nation for the people that made him a leader of “the People Power, Our Power” movement.
With a population of over 44.27 million, according to the Uganda Electoral Commission, Eighteen point One million people registered to vote as Eleven Candidates are running for President. A Candidate needs 50% plus 1 vote to avoid a run-off election.
A few days ago, the Ugandan government through the Communications Commission directed all telecom companies to immediately suspend any access and use of all social media platforms and online messaging applications over the networks until further notice.
