As part of the Black History Month celebrations, Hon. Francis-Xavier Sosu, the Member of Parliament for Madina, Ghana, participated in a series of engagements at Morris Brown College in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. His visit culminated in a groundbreaking partnership between the prestigious American institution and the Madina Centre for Education and Policy, a move set to revolutionize educational opportunities for Ghanaian learners.

This collaboration will enable students in Ghana to earn accredited certificates and degrees from the United States without facing the usual barriers. According to Hon. Sosu, the partnership with Morris Brown College is a major milestone in his efforts to enhance education and capacity building for the youth in Madina and beyond.

During his visit, Hon. Sosu met with Dr. Yaw Amponsah Adoo, Dean of the Business Faculty, and the President of Morris Brown College, to discuss the practicalities of the partnership. As a result of these deliberations, Ghanaian students will soon have the opportunity to enroll in a range of one-year certificate courses in Non-Profit Management, Entrepreneurship, Exports Performance, and Hospitality Management. These programs will be accessible both online and in person, ensuring flexibility for working professionals and students alike.

Beyond academics, this initiative opens doors for Ghanaian students to explore international learning experiences. Hon. Sosu highlighted that Morris Brown College would facilitate travel opportunities for learners who wish to further their studies in the United States. This is expected to not only enhance the professional competencies of Ghanaian students but also expose them to global best practices in various fields of study.

Speaking about the significance of this development, Hon. Sosu stated, “This is a great opportunity for the youth of Madina and Ghana as a whole. The collaboration between Morris Brown College and the Madina Centre for Education and Policy will break barriers and ensure that learners can achieve internationally recognized qualifications right from Ghana.”

The agreement aligns with Hon. Sosu’s broader vision of leveraging international partnerships to improve education and create better prospects for young Ghanaians. By integrating global academic resources with local expertise, this initiative is set to equip students with the skills necessary for success in a competitive world.

The Madina Centre for Education and Policy remains committed to fostering educational and policy-driven innovations that uplift Ghana’s youth. With this new partnership, the future of many aspiring professionals in Madina and across Ghana looks even brighter.
