President John Dramani Mahama inaugurated the newly constituted 31-member Council of State at the Jubilee House in Accra. The Council, established under Articles 89 to 92 of the 1992 Constitution, serves as an advisory body to the President on national issues.
The Council is chaired by Mr. Edward Korbly Doe Adjaho, a former Speaker of Parliament. Other notable members include former Chief Justice Sophia Akuffo, former Inspector General of Police Mohammed Ahmed Alhassan, former Chief of Defence Staff Air Marshal Michael Samson-Oje (rtd), and Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, President of the National House of Chiefs.

The Council comprises 16 regional representatives elected from each of Ghana’s regions, alongside 11 presidential appointees.
The regional representatives are:
- Western Region: Mr. Maxwell Boakye
- Central Region: Mr. Hakeem Addae
- Greater Accra Region: Nene Drolor Bosso Adamtey I
- Volta Region: Mr. Gabriel Adovoe Kwabla Tanko Kwamigah-Atokple
- Eastern Region: Madam Evelyn Korang
- Western North Region: Mr. Michael Addo
- Ahafo Region: Mr. Yaw Okyere
- Bono Region: Dr. Kusi Boachie Yiadom
- Bono East Region: Mr. Pimampim Yaw Kagbrese V
- Oti Region: Mr. Richard Kings Atikpo
- Northern Region: Alhaji Mohammed Mumuni
- Savannah Region: Mr. Abudu Seidu Sampson
- Upper West Region: Mr. Michael Kwame Mumuni
- Upper East Region: Mr. Thomas More Ditundini Adaili
- North East Region: Naa Saaka Abuba
- Ashanti Region: Mr. Yaw Owusu Obimpeh






The presidential appointees are:
- Daasebre Boamah Darko, Chief of Akyem Kukurantumi
- Osabarima Kwesi Attah II, Paramount Chief of Oguaa Traditional Area
- Justice Vida Amankwah Akoto-Bamfo, retired Supreme Court Judge
- Mankpanwura Jakpa Achor-Ade Borenyi I, Paramount Chief of Mankpan Traditional Area
- Mr. Cletus Apul Avoka, former Member of Parliament for Zebilla
- Dr. Eunice Brookman-Amissah, former Minister of Health
- Mrs. Betty Mould Iddrisu, former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice
- Madam Cynthia Komley Adjetey
- Mrs. Molly Anim Addo, former Ambassador
- Nana Saa Gyamfuaa II, Queen Mother of Ayima Traditional Area





In his address, President Mahama emphasized the Council’s critical role in providing non-partisan, insightful, and transformative guidance on governance, policy, and national development. He urged members to uphold principles of integrity, objectivity, and prioritize the national interest in their deliberations.



Chairman Doe Adjaho, speaking on behalf of the Council, pledged their commitment to support the President in addressing the nation’s challenges, including economic distress and social cohesion issues. He assured that the Council would function effectively, dispelling any public doubts about its relevance. The inauguration ceremony was attended by key government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives from various sectors of society.
