The Vice President Her Excellency Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, returned home this afternoon following a period of medical care in London, United Kingdom. Her return marks a significant moment for the Presidency and the Ghanaian public, many of whom have expressed continued support and well wishes throughout her absence.

Her Excellency arrived at the Kotoka International Airport to a warm and symbolic welcome led by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama and First Lady Mrs. Lordina Dramani Mahama. Also present were Chief of Staff Julius Debrah, Vice President’s Chief of Staff Alex Segbefia, several senior government officials, and clergy members, including the Presiding Bishop of the Methodist Church of Ghana. Close family members, friends, and party supporters gathered in solidarity, demonstrating deep affection and national unity.

The Vice President had traveled to London weeks earlier to undergo a scheduled medical procedure and receive follow-up care. During her stay, she took time for rest and recovery, supported by an international team of medical professionals in collaboration with physicians from the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC).

In a brief but heartfelt statement, Vice President Opoku-Agyemang expressed profound gratitude to God and to the Ghanaian people for their steadfast prayers, encouragement, and good wishes throughout her recovery. She extended special thanks to her medical team, both in London and at UGMC, for their unwavering professionalism and attentive care.

“I am deeply touched by the love and support I received from Ghanaians during this time. I want to thank our doctors and medical personnel, both at home and abroad, for their exceptional service,” she stated. “I am especially grateful to His Excellency President John Mahama and his brother, Mr. Ibrahim Mahama, for their personal kindness, thoughtfulness, and steadfast support throughout this period.”

The Vice President’s return is expected to reinvigorate executive engagements, particularly as Ghana advances through a dynamic political and developmental agenda. Her presence is anticipated at upcoming cabinet meetings and high-level consultations on national policy, governance, and the country’s strategic roadmap toward building the better Ghana we all yearn for.

Her Excellency’s resilience and graceful return have been widely praised as a testament to the strength of leadership and unity within the highest levels of government. Her recovery also reinforces the importance of health and wellness as an integral part of national leadership and service.

As Ghana welcomes back its Vice President, the moment stands as a reminder of the power of national solidarity, the value of compassionate leadership, and the enduring strength of public service.

We extend our heartfelt wishes to the Vice President for continued strength, good health, and divine protection as she resumes her official duties in service to the nation, for God and country.
