Renowned Ghanaian-American Certified Public Accountant, Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie affectionately known as Prof. Double Double has commissioned a state-of-the-art Information and Communication Technology (ICT) laboratory in Sonuto Agbozume, Volta Region, on May 1st, 2025. The Charity Galley ICT Lab is part of a broader initiative to empower his maternal hometown through education and technology.

The commissioning ceremony was graced by several distinguished personalities, including celebrated Ghanaian Pan-African YouTuber and philanthropist Wode Maya, Volta Regional Council of State Member H.E. Gabriel Kwame Atople, and education advocate Madam Freda Abla Amable, along with other esteemed guests and community leaders.

Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie, whose nickname “Prof. Double Double” stems from the unique blessing of fathering two sets of twins, revealed that the inspiration behind the project was deeply spiritual. Two years ago, he had a dream in which his late mother visited him, this became a moving experience that compelled him to take decisive action in support of education in Agbozume, his maternal ancestral town.

In an interview at the event, Mr. Kumordzie disclosed that he has invested over $300,000 into the project. This significant contribution was further bolstered by donations from well-wishers and supporters worldwide through his Facebook platform. The ICT Lab is designed to serve basic, secondary, and even tertiary students who may utilize the facility for research, granting them access to cutting-edge digital tools, internet-enabled learning, and technology-based skills development.

This ultramodern educational project, strategically situated directly opposite the Sonuto basic school once attended by the late Madam Charity Galley, is equipped with state-of-the-art ICT infrastructure, including computerized desks, advanced technological learning tools, modern washroom facilities, and a range of other amenities. The initiative is designed to significantly enhance the quality of teaching and learning, providing a conducive environment that supports academic excellence and digital literacy.

The Charity Galley ICT Lab stands as a cornerstone of Mr. Agbeko Kumordzie’s vision to bridge the digital divide in rural Ghana. He also announced plans to procure five school buses to provide free transportation for students from Ketu South District and its surrounding communities, ensuring consistent access to the lab’s resources for free.

As part of the event, dignitaries helped unveil a beautifully sculpted bust of Madam Charity Galley, the matriarch whose name the lab honors. The bust was expertly crafted by the talented Ghanaian sculptor Yaw Chess.

Mr. Solomon Kumordzie, brother of the founder, led guests on an official tour of the facility, detailing its operational setup, available equipment, and the upcoming educational programs set to be introduced in phases.

Following the commissioning, Wode Maya, who donated some computers and ICT gadgets, shared a heartfelt video message, later posted on Madam Freda Abla Amable’s Facebook page, urged the Government of Ghana, corporate institutions, and private investors to support transformative initiatives in the Volta Region. He emphasized the region’s immense potential in education, infrastructure, and technology, and called for collaborative efforts to drive sustainable development and uplift the youth.

In continuation of its social impact agenda, the Charity Galley Foundation for Education is also championing another project: the provision of green containers repurposed as safe, affordable trading spaces for underprivileged market women and small-scale traders in Agbozume. This initiative seeks to promote economic empowerment while ensuring dignified working conditions for the entrepreneurs.

Celebrations culminated at the Charity Galley Villa, where dignitaries and invited guests gathered to honor Prof. Double Double’s visionary achievement and enjoy a festive reception.

Mr. Agbeko  Odione Kumordzie’s guiding belief—“No child should learn computers on a blackboard”—is fast becoming a reality through his hard work and diligent action plans.

In recognition of his continued achievements, Mr. Agbeko Odione Kumordzie received an Honorary Award for Activism and Visionary Leadership from the Awadada of the Anlo State, Togbi Agbesi Awusu II, on October 5, 2024, honoring his unwavering contributions and support to the people of Anlo.
